Exploring Screen-printing

Creative workshop looking at processes used in the making of the art works in the exhibition.

After in introduction to the prints in the exhibition by Artist Peter Griffiths you will be guided by The Print Club’s experienced print tutors to make your own screen print as a response to the work in the exhibition. You will be asked to leave one of your prints behind to display in the gallery during the exhibition.

This is a partly funded activity with a small fee to help with funding and cover material costs.

Machine knitting workshop using jacquard

Create your own digital punch card pattern of a plant design and use it to make a simple knitted item.

After in introduction to the prints in the exhibition you will work with experienced tutor and knitwear design Miriam Griffiths, the basics of working with a knitting machine and digitise your image and realising them through the creation of a personal item. You should expect to make a small tablet, phone or pencil pouch, you will be invited to display it in the gallery during the exhibition.

The Plant Room exhibition is all about plants and this Saturday day is an opportunity for you to swap or buy some of your own, come and see the exhibition and take something home with you. We are bringing back the old tradition of swapping cuttings and sharing your favourite plants.

Meersbrook Park Users Trust who help manage the Meersbrook Walled Garden will be bringing plants down and offering them for sale.

Our Ways of Making exhibitions form part of Making Ways, a new programme supported by Sheffield Culture Consortium through Arts Council England to showcase, celebrate and develop the exceptional contemporary visual art produced in the city.
