Green Estate wins prize at Sheffield Food Festival

Green Estate has just won the Sheffield Food Award for creating the Urban Pop Up Allotment outside Sheffield Town Hall in September. This slightly tongue in cheek exhibition was a major draw in the 3 day Sheffield Food Festival - apparantlty the best attended City event to date.

Elements in the design included an edible shed, compost corner, a fruit garden, a honey garden and a pumpkin cart attended by our very own Clydesdale Big Lad.

Former Yorkshire Artspace starter artist Ruthie Ford contributed to the exhibition's overall success by creating giant knitted pumpkins and running workshops to help to grow our 'pomme pomme' tree . Inspired by both the fun and the success Ruthie and Green Estate have now jointly submitted a funding bid for a combined arts and landscape project to take place on the Tour de France, Harrogate to Sheffield route in July.
