Laura makes hand-thrown tableware, primarily using stoneware clay. Her work is functional, simple and designed to be used and enjoyed.
All pieces use unique glazes that are created from scratch and are developed by experimenting with materials. Laura sources local raw materials and processes them by hand so they can be incorporated within the work in glazes and slips. She collects wild clays, which are applied to pieces as a decorative slip or incorporated into glazes. Laura is particularly interested in ash glazes and uses locally sourced wood ash as an ingredient.
Subtle variations in the pieces highlight the qualities of the rocks and minerals within both the clay bodies and glazes. All items are handmade and show the marks of this process. As a result, each piece is a one-off, no two are exactly the same.
