After a successful career in public museums and art galleries, Janet Barnes have devoted herself to working with clay. So far she has worked with stoneware but she likes to experiment with different clays. All her pots are handbuilt using coiling and pinching and she uses slips and oxides to decorate them. So far her decoration shows a fondness for lines incised into the clay. She makes big pots inspired by vessel forms that have sculptural ambition.
