Cath Acons is a visual artist working across many media, usually producing sculptural work for installations. She was trained in Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield and Nottingham, and has worked in many creative positions including teaching and in the theatre. She has exhibited in many major galleries, including Sheffield's Graves Gallery and Mappin Art Gallery.
Her current body of work includes hundreds of paper multiples. Inspired by aquatic migratory patterns, the work explores the various journeys that people from all backgrounds might find themselves on: physical journeys from A to B; journeys through emotional peaks and valleys; and journeys from danger to safety.
She is also a prolific painter under the nom-de-plume Cat Acorns, painting images (primarily of flowers) that draw from the natural world. These works often use colours that are super-saturated against a stark white backdrop, taking the work away from being purely representational. She feels that painting is her music, and sculpture her soul.
