In 2016 Sheffield celebrates a Year of Making, an opportunity to foreground all forms of making in the city and region – from advanced manufacturing, specialist steels, forged products, cutting tools, flanges, bearings and blades to award winning theatre, international art and design, ground-breaking research and world class talent.
In partnership with Yorkshire Artspace, Julie MacDonald High Sheriff of South Yorkshire will celebrate the Year of Making 2016 by commissioning an artist/maker from Sheffield city-region to create a new permanent artwork for Manor Lodge Primary School.
The commission will see an artist working ‘in residence’ at Manor Lodge Primary School alongside the pupils, for at least 10 days between April and July 2016. Installation & celebration is set to take place September/October 2016. The overall fee for this commission is: £9,000 inc VAT.
We’re incredibly proud to be a part of the Year of Making and we’re looking forward to delivering special events, commissions and opportunities for artists and makers throughout 2016.
Deadline for applications is 9am Monday 4th April 2016.
