In 2014, Yorkshire Artspace created Studio 54, an online platform for its Starting Out programme which had previously only been available in-house, enabling creatives wherever they are to access the wealth of knowledge and advice provided in the programme. Starting Out is designed to give early career artists and makers the tools to build their creative businesses with confidence. The advice and information within the programme can also be valuable to artists and makers who have been in business for many years but who feel some knowledge or confidence is missing in their practice
Delivered by Patricia Van Den Akker of The Design Trust, the Autumn 2014 programme proved very popular and was fully booked with over 175 participants taking up the places on the first two courses in less than 24 hours. One of those participants was Kath Boyd, Yorkshire Artspace studioholder and glass artist with 17 years in practice. Kath has been pleased with the course so far: 'There was nothing like it around when I started my business and although I have learned a lot over the years, I still think there is much that the courses can teach me, especially as they are aimed at creative people.' Read the full interview with Kath on the Studio 54 blog here.
There are still a alimited number of places available for the next two courses on the Starting Out programme - 'Marketing and Selling' and 'Finance and Money' book your free place here.
