We are about to undertake our 2014/15 Public Benefit Survey to find out a bit more about our studio holders. The last one we did was back in 2010/11, so you are forgiven if you can't quite remember what we found out! Here is a abit of a catch up summary for you... You can also download it from the right hand panel of our 'About' page if you would like more detail. Yorkshire Artspace has changed a lot since this last survey was undertaken, and in no small way by the addition of our new building Exchange Place. We're really looking forward to comparing the results to see the changes that have taken place, and to find out more - like what brought our studio holders to Sheffield, what keeps them here, and the kind of work they create.
So, back in 2011/2012, our studio holders:• Delivered 1257 hours of education outreach and training, reaching 6395 participants.
• 73% of them had a website, compared with 60% in the previous year.
• 37% began their practice in 2000-2010, 33% began in the 1980s or earlier, and 10% had started out in 2011.
• Exhibited their work in 21 different countries.
Our next survey concentrates on artists professional development, and we'll bring the results in our next newsletter.
