Lea Torp Nielsen uses her own field recordings alongside archive material to create a series of loosely site specific works. The titular 'HYDRA' is a character who "speaks in elemental tongues", used by the artist to explore how landscapes and histories can be embodied.
The multi-site exhibition across Site Gallery, Bloc Projects and Yorkshire Artspace marks the halfway point of Platform 21, a two year residency programme led by Site Gallery as part of the Freelands Artist Programm. Lea is joined on the programme by Rachael Colley, Jan Hopkins, Anisa Nuh-Ali, Lea Torp Nielsen and Yorkshire Artspace member Seiko Kinoshita.
