On Tues 5th Nov Sarah Spanton of Waymarking delivered her recently devised Readiness & Resilience training seminar at Yorkshire Artspace. The day was designed to help those who attended think through their practice to become more ready and resilient in the current changing times.
It was an intensive day filled with lively discussions ranging from what makes an artist professional to the idea of the artist as social activist all set against the backdrop of the triple crunch. As well as these big issues there was also time for each person to analyse and reflect on specific aspects of their own practice and move towards developing an action plan for working in non-arts sectors. An interesting, inspiring and well facilitated day. Feedback from particiapnts:.
"I have gained an understanding of the value and skills I have as an artist, this has boosted my confidence as a creative person. I found some inspiration to look and read about and I enjoyed learning about others and their practice."
"Good information, resources, presentations and materials. Great to work with and meet other artists. All objectives addressed very well. I Feel Motivated! A strategy and priorities and plan emerging."
"The seminar touched on all the objectives for me – which is very helpful. I realised ‘it is all there’ within my practice and I am on the right track for myself. The seminar will help me to structure better and help me pursue what I want to pursue."
