We’re delighted to be working with Sheffield City Council to manage a large-scale artwork commission for the hoardings around the former Castle Market site in the historic Castlegate area of Sheffield.
Arts Collective Glassball have been selected to produce the 175 metre-long artwork. Lead artists Cora Glasser and David Ball will be running a number of public events in Castlegate and the city centre over the coming weeks and they'd like you to get involved;
“We’re are keen to involve as many voices connected to this fascinating multi-layered site within the artwork as possible. We would love to hear from people who have a story or personal connection they would like to share about Castlegate. You can become part of the artwork by visiting our project website. There will also be project updates on this site, showing our work in progress and planned events taking place."
Cora & David are planning a series of town centre interventions including a mobile ‘Photo/Story Exchange’. This will involve using instant portrait photography (think polaroid) in exchange for an anecdote or story about Castlegate. They’ll be doing this on Wednesday 9th December between 11am-3pm (weather dependant), starting where Waingate meets Haymarket and then re-locating around the demolition site.
Please check the project website for information and updates (including possible alterations due to bad weather!).
