When did you first hear about the Starter Studio Programme for Silversmiths and Jewellers?
I first heard about Yorkshire Artspace while I was studying for my degree in Design Crafts at De Montfort University, where I graduated from in 2011. After I had taken some time out to travel, the programme was still something I was really interested in doing. I thought it would be extremely valuable in the early stage of my career.
Can you describe your practice?
The Weaving process is central to my work, using a combination of base and precious metals. From this I create woven sculptural vessels and one- off jewellery pieces. During my time on the Starter studio programme I hope to develop my skills with particular focus on Silversmithing and establishing an identity for my work. I also hope to gain more experience and knowledge of the industry that I intend to continue my career. I have recently moved to Sheffield from Leicestershire, so I have enjoyed exploring the city and I am very excited about all the different things that are always going on in the city. It is also really helpful to have so many resources available nearby.
Where can people see your work?
I will be taking part in the Open Studio at Persistence works on Friday evenign 15th and Saturday 16th November, where I will have some examples of my work on display.
