When did you first hear about the Starter Studio Programme for Silversmiths and Jewellers?
The first time I heard about Yorkshire Artspace and the Starter Studio Programme was in 2011 in my third year at University in Leicester. I studied Design Crafts at De Montfort University where I specialised in metal work. After graduating I went on to complete a one year workshop residency at the Bishopsland Educational Trust, which allowed me to build upon my jewellery and silversmithing techniques and designs.
Can you describe your practice?
I usually start by drawing my designs and then transferring the drawing onto metal and sawing by hand. It can be a time consuming process. During my two years on the programme I want to push my design ideas as well as develop and perhaps change my making skills to be more time efficient. Eventually I want to become a better know established maker and this is an excellent platform to help me with that ambition.
Where can people see your work?
I am taking part in the November Open Studio’s where I am hoping to show my Carousel Bonbonnière along with some smaller works and jewellery.
