Jeweller Fay Jenkinson lives in Doncaster and
studied BA (Hons) Metalwork and Jewellery at Sheffield Hallam University and graduated in 2012.
“I am a jeweller who has an interest in using alternative materials that are not traditionally used in jewellery to intrigue and interest the viewer. The designs are strongly influenced by history and the way objects were restored”.
Fay’s collection ‘Broken Desire’ challenges the idea of a broken object as something to be either discarded or restored to its original unbroken form. The collection plays with the concept of restoration, allowing the repair to become a desirable and highly visible feature of the design.
“I relish the challenge of incorporating various diverse materials: porcelain, resin, gold and silver, which are not conventionally used in combination with each other to produce tactile wearable jewellery”.
Fay will be exhibiting at Islington Contemporary Art & Design Fair, ( week 3) 20th and 21st October 2012 based at Candid Art Galleries in Islington, London.
Fay will be based in studio 4 at Manor Oaks Studios
