Studio holder Dave Appleyard has been commissioned to make a new piece of work in response to the historic remains of Norton Priory, alongside its newly opened museum and extensive grounds.
He is one of ten artists to have been selected to work in partnership with various museums in the North of England as part of Arts and Heritage’s MeetingPoint2 project.
Dave says of the project:
“There is something very special about Norton Priory Museum. My research visits left me literally spellbound so I’m absolutely delighted to be involved in their MeetingPoint2 project. The project offers a rare opportunity to work with a very dedicated team in a place steeped in 900 years of history.”
The commission has come from Arts and Heritage, building on their successful pilot which took place in 2016 and saw artists working with museums across the North East and Yorkshire. Dave will be working on this in August and we look forward to seeing the completed work later in the summer.
