Castlegate Festival 2021

Join us at Exchange Place Studios for free art workshops in celebration of Castlegate.

Rezwana Sarkar will offer monoprinting workshops, inspired by the beautiful new meadow planting around the studios as part of the recently-completed Grey To Green 2 developments. Rezwana will demonstrate the simple technique using leaves and other natural elements, which you can then have a go at yourself using provided materials.

To celebrate the Sheffield Waterways Festival happening on the same day in Victoria Quays, Alison Churchill offers an opportunity to explore the dynamic energy of water and make exciting patterns and marks. Using chalk and water, you can create abstract 'water drawings' on special paper provided by Alison.

Both workshops are free and suitable for all ages - you are welcome to have a go at both!

You can also pay a visit to City of Sanctuary, our free exhibition shining a light on the refugee crisis. Donations in support of City of Sanctuary and ASSIST Sheffield are gratefully accepted.

Also happening in Castlegate on the day will be a celebration of Grey To Green, featuring local community market stalls, Caribbean food, refreshments and musical entertainment - all set amongst the beautiful new meadow planting. Victoria Quays will also be transformed into a festival of activty, with stalls and taster canoe and paddle boarding sessions. There will be arts and crafts, music, stone masonry workshops, theatrical walking tours, street performances and more!
