Yorkshire Artspace is looking to appoint a Board member to inspire and support the strategic development of our outreach programming.
A practical understanding of the role that the visual arts play within the formal and informal education and community sectors at local and national levels is essential. A good understanding of the challenges faced by visual artists working in this particular field is desirable.
Board meetings are quarterly and we enjoy an annual Board/Staff development session incorporating a making activity. It is hoped that Board members will attend our annual Open Studios in November, and other events, to better understand our creative community. We have a small committed Board of 6 members who enjoy an engaging and strategic relationship with a staff team of the same size.
Yorkshire Artspace is one of the largest and most established studio providers in the UK, currently offering affordable workspace to over 160 artists and craftspeople in 3 buildings in Sheffield. We aim to be a centre of excellence for the support of artists and makers by providing good quality, affordable studio space and tailored professional development programmes.
We are committed to raising the profile of artists locally, nationally and internationally, offering public access to artists and their work through artist residencies, open studios, exhibitions and pop up events.
