We are pleased as punch to see this year's All Fired Up ceramic commission go on display at the Millennium Gallery. Rebecca Brown has made a ceramic book containing pages of memories made with South Yorkshire Housing Association clients as part of their Live Well programme which supports elderly people to live well in their own homes. As Rebecca says, “The All Fired Up commission offered the freedom to create an object that didn’t need to be functional or commercially viable and could instead prioritise the narrative that grew from visiting the Live Well at Home residents. By creating an “everlasting book” from porcelain paper clay, I could combine all aspects of my practice – drawing, printing and working between 2D and 3D - in an unfamiliar way.”
Hear more from Rebecca about her working process at a lunchtime Maker Talk at the Millenium Gallery. More information here.
Thanks to our partners SYHA & Museums Sheffield for making this happen and once again a big thank you to Potclays Ltd who generously provide materials for the All Fired Up commissions each year.
