A Place for Art
Sheffield Town Hall

Deadline: Weds 16 September

Following the immensely successful artist residencies at Sheffield Town Hall last year, Yorkshire Artspace continues its partnership with Sheffield City Council to offer a unique exhibition opportunity to artists living and working in Sheffield.

Committee Room 3 is a large, grand room on the first floor of the old Town Hall, well used on a daily basis. There is sufficient wall space to hang a number of large art works as well as a focal wall that would suit a single piece (several photos of the room are available and successful applicants will have the opportunity to visit the room).

Artists living and working in Sheffield are invited to submit a proposal for showing their wall-based work in Committee Room 3 for the inaugural exhibition, a 4 month period commencing 1 October 2009. The work should send a positive message about the artists of Sheffield and work with relevance to Sheffield will be prioritised. While there is no fee offered, the work will be clearly labelled with price and your contact details. There will also be the opportunity for a private view supported in kind by Sheffield City Council and Yorkshire Artspace. The work will be insured and hung by Sheffield City Council's facilities managers.

Proposals should include:

- A written proposal (no more than two sides of A4), including an artist’s statement and details of the work
- Images of all work to be considered along with dimensions, medium and price.

We welcome applications by email(jo@artspace.org.uk) or post (FAO Jo, Yorkshire Artspace, Persistence Works, 21 Brown Street, Sheffield S1 2BS). No originals please.
