Community Engagement view June 15th
Museums Sheffield: Millennium Gallery are now showing 'Auctorum', an exhibition of work by Yorkshire Artspace artists Paul Morrison.
In response to Paul's exhibition, Yorkshire Artspace are working with two Sheffield secondary schools: Chaucer School (based in Parson Cross) and Park Academy (based in The Manor). Twelve YR10 pupils in total will be working with artists Charlie Hill and Emilie Taylor during July and September.
This project was entirely made possible through funds raised from the sale of an artwork 'Cicad', designed by Paul Morrison. This 12.7cm x 16cm mirror polished stainless steel etching was produced in a limited edition of 10, laser etched by Sheffield Assay Office as an in-kind contribution to the project. The mirror polished stainless steel was donated by Aalco (Steel Manufacturers) in Nottingham. The project received further support from Museums Sheffield, LEAF Allotments and Manor Lodge.
We only have a further 3 of Paul's Cicad artworks still left for sale at £430 (unframed) or £490 (framed). All funds raised from further sales will continue to support our community engagement work.
Over the past 15 years, Sheffield-based artist Paul Morrison has established a global audience for his bold and intriguing images. After solo exhibitions in many major cities from London to Tokyo and New York, Musuems Sheffield are thrilled to host Paul’s first large-scale exhibition in his home town of Sheffield. Morrison’s striking and often black & white work finds its inspiration in the historic and contemporary, from engravings and botanical illustrations to comics and animation. Featuring a host of new works created specifically for this exhibition, Auctorum is one of Morrison’s most wide-ranging exhibitions to date.
