Yorkshire Artspace is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee, run by a team of five members of staff and governed by a Board of ten Directors. The Society is a membership organisation and is owned by its members.
Membership
Anyone can be a member of Yorkshire Artspace: you must be a member to take on a studio, but the majority of services are open to non-members. The Society aims to have a 50:50 balance of fine artists and craftspeople as studio holders. Visit the Artists pages to find out more about those based at Yorkshire Artspace.
Board Members
There are ten* members of the Board of Directors offering skills and expertise across the fields of accountancy (Paul Houghton of Grant Thornton), marketing and PR (Surriya Falconer of MK), legal (Andrew Walker of Irwin Mitchell), planning (Narendra Bajaria), community engagement (Pat Cochrane of CAPE UK), curating (Sheila McGregor of AXIS), managed workspace (Peter Wood of Sheffield Technology Parks) and visual arts practice (Tracey Heyes, ceramacist). The Chair of the Board is Narendra Bajaria. *we currently have two vacancies for Board members with either visual arts pratice or regeneration skills.
Staff Members
There are currently five members of staff, based at Persistence Works. Director Kate Dore (17.5 hours per week usually on Monday and Thursday) who leads on organisational development; Operations Manager Stuart Wright (full time) who manages all the premises plus the finances with support from administrator Anita Lloyd (20 hours across the week); Programme Managers Rachael Dodd (22.5 hours usually Monday, Tuesday and Thursday) and Mir Jansen (full time) who develop and manage the Starter Studio Programmes/Artists in Residence at Persistence Works, Manor Oaks and Knutton Road and operate the 1;2;1 advice service for visual artists.
